In the Historical Center, see Plaza San Martin, Plaza Mayor, the Government Palace, the City Hall, the Cathedral, either the Religious Art Museum or the Santo Domingo Convent, and San Francisco Monastery, with its famous underground crypts.

The tour continues through the residential Districts of San Isidro and Miraflores, visiting the Central Park of Miraflores and El Parque del Amor (Love Park). You’ll also stop by the Huaca Pucllana archaeological site, which dates to the II Century AC and was considered by the Incas as a Sacred Town.

Following that, we’ll head to the district of Barranco, heart of the bohemian history of the city. Towards the end of the 19th Century, it became the favourite hangout spot for poets, writers, painters, and sculptors, who were inspired by the coastal scenery. You’ll see the most emblematic symbol of the neighbourhood is the wooden bridge, Puente de los Suspiros (Bridge of Sighs).

You’ll also walk through Cajamarca, one of the most picturesque and colourful streets, where Las Pallas is located. This is a renowned repository of Peruvian handicrafts where you can admire and/or buy a great variety of artisan goods, such as tapestries and ceramics.

The tour continues over at the Larco Herrera Museum and Hacienda, where you’ll get to admire one of the best collections of pre-Columbian art in the country. You’ll also get to walk around the hacienda itself, which was built over a sacred pre-Incan site that is located in the Pueblo Libre District. Afterward, you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch at the museum’s café.

Maras Salt Pans Sacred Valley Peru

Full-day Chinchero Village, Maras Saltpans & Moray Terraces tour (private)

This day begins with a tour of Chinchero Town. Here, you’ll get to amaze yourself with the picturesque views that surround this authentic slice of the Andes Mountains. On weekends, the main plaza of the town becomes a hub for artisans to gather and sell their wares.

Following that, we’ll head to the Maras Salt Pans. This impressive site offers visitors breathtaking views that consist of countless terraces where salt (which is extracted from nearby springs) is produced. It takes about a month for the terraces to produce thick, crystalized salt that varies in color.

Then, we prepare to admire the Moray terraces, evidence of the advanced agricultural knowledge the Incas held. It is thought that Moray was used to adapt plants to new climates through its circular terraces that create a series of microclimates at the different heights of the terraces. This technology enabled the Incas to experimentally improve a great variety of crops.

“Paulo ensured no detail was missed and that we were comfortable and enjoyed the transit to see cultural activities. He provided excellent coordination of required travel between air, car, bus, pier, and train to include hotels, guides, and activities. When it came to our many special requests, ‘no’ was not in their vocabulary. As experienced travelers, the company exceeded all our expectations.”
