Day by Day

Day 1 - Private transfer from El Dorado Airport to hotel

Upon arrival at the International Airport El Dorado, you will be met by our representative and will be taken to your hotel. Our guide will assist you at the hotel with check-in.

The Cite Hotel is located in the business and leisure area of Bogota, overlooking Virrey Park. A mix of modern design with a homey atmosphere in the heart of Bogotá, Cite Hotel offers the perfect urban retreat for business and leisure travelers.

American breakfast included.

Day 2: City Tour and Visit to Paloquemao Market

Our guide will meet you in the hotel lobby to explain the itinerary and provide valuable information regarding your stay there or about the city. The city tour starts with a morning visit to the local market of Paloquemao, one of the largest in Colombia, where you can find a large section of fruits and flowers. Our visit continues to the historical heart of Bogotá, La Candelaria; to admire its vibrant colonial-style architecture and Republican-era landmarks.

After La Candelaria, we take a break to enjoy a typical lunch at the Origen Bistro Restaurant, where you can enjoy a wide range of Colombian signature cuisine. End today’s tour with a visit to Monserrate Hill, where you will find a white Catholic church at the top, which has been a pilgrimage site since 1657.

Depending on the day, we might also visit the Gold Museum or the Botero Museum!

Please note that appropriate clothing may be required for visits to religious buildings.

Day 3 – From Bogotá to Villa de Leyva + Zipaquira's Cathedral

This visit starts with an early morning departure from Bogotá to the beautiful town of Villa de Leyva. This town has several rural landscapes, from wilderness areas with unique lakes and water reservoirs to semi-arid deserts. Villa de Leyva is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Colombia.

The first stop is the small town of Zipaquirá, where you will take an underground tour to discover the famous Salt Cathedral. This cathedral was carved inside an active salt mine formed 250 million years ago. Afterwards, visit the town of Zipaquirá, stop at the main square, where you will find whitewashed houses, as well as the most important municipal buildings.

The tour then continues with a visit to the colonial town of Ráquira, probably the most colorful town in Colombia, with vividly colored facades and attractive buildings. During this visit, you will have the opportunity to pass by a workshop and observe the process of how traditional pottery is made.

Finally, we will arrive at Villa de Leyva. Upon arrival, you will be taken to your hotel for the registration procedures

Overnight in Villa de Leyva

Day 04 – Villa de Leyva

In the morning, you will enjoy a tour through the colonial town; you will learn more about the culture of the people and the fascinating architecture as you pass through the different cobbled streets and the vast main square plaza. The tour then continues with a visit to the museum “El Fósil,” where you will find remains of an ancient marine reptile, which resembles a giant alligator dated from approximately 120 million years ago.

A few kilometers away from Villa de Leyva, you will find the convent “Santo Ecce Homo,” founded by Dominicans in 1620. This convent is a large stone-and-adobe construction with a lovely courtyard.

The day ends with a visit to the “Marqués de Villa de Leyva,” one of the few wineries in the country. This vineyard was founded in 1989 and produces high-quality wine in a tropical climate. You will have the opportunity to walk through the vineyard, visit the wine cellar, and taste one of the wines made at the “Marqués de Villa de Leyva.”

Day 5 -Private Transfer Villa de Leyva – Barichara

Upon arrival at Palonegro Airport in Bucaramanga, you will be met by our guide and transferred to Barichara. On the way, we will stop to enjoy a typical lunch at Hacienda El Roble, located in Mesa de los Santos. This hacienda is known for growing shade-grown coffee and is one of the largest producers in Colombia.

Afterward, we will take the cable car from Mesa de los Santos to the main entrance of the Chicamocha National Park. On this approximately 30-minute ride, we will enjoy the spectacular view of the Chicamocha Canyon. At the end of the tour, we will be transferred to Barichara. Our guide will assist you at the hotel with the check-in procedures.

Notes: Chicamocha National Park is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, except for national holidays.

Day 6: Tour of Barichara + Lunch + Paper Workshop + Painting Workshop

In the morning, our guide will meet you at the hotel lobby to start the tour of Barichara. During this tour, you can observe the cobblestone streets and beautiful colonial architecture. In addition, we will visit the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, the Church of Jesus and Santa Barbara, the cemetery, the royal street, the Bio Park, and the viewpoint of the Suarez River Canyon.

Afterward, we will stop to enjoy a delicious lunch at the restaurant Elvia Cocina Local, renowned for preparing dishes with locally sourced products.

Next, we will visit the Paper Workshop, where you will be able to interact with the women artisans who work in this craft. In addition, you will be able to make a sheet of paper made of natural fibers from plants and trees in the region. After this, we will continue with a visit to the painting workshop. Here, we will be able to use natural paintings from the land of Santander to create a painting.

Day 7: Transfer to San Gil Airport + Private Flight to Cartagena

We will depart to San Gil airport for our private charter flight to Bucaramanga airport, where we will take the flight to the next destination.

Transfer notes: You must also take into account the restrictions that apply to the charter flight with the corresponding provider.

Private transfer from Rafael Núñez Airport to hotel

Upon arrival at Rafael Nuñez Airport, our representative will meet you and take you to your hotel. Our guide will assist you at the hotel with check-in. Afterward, you will head to enjoy an afternoon of cocktails and snacks and close the day with a delicious dinner at one of the best restaurants in the city.

The hotel is located in the historic center of Cartagena. Housed in a restored historic landmark, our hotel features two towers offering an authentic, colonial ambiance as well as modern elegance. Enjoy snacks and cocktails by the pool and enjoy city views from the terrace bar.

Day 8: City tour of Cartagena + Drumming Workshop

Today, our guide will meet you in the hotel lobby to enjoy a delicious cup of coffee while they explain the itinerary and provide important information about the city.

The tour begins in the morning with a visit to Getsemaní. Which invites you to immerse yourself in the tropical rhythms of the Caribbean and experience the vibrant atmosphere of one of Cartagena’s most authentic neighborhoods. Getsemaní, once considered off-limits, has transformed into a must-visit and must-enjoy destination in Cartagena.

Continue with an immersion experience of drums and traditional rhythms of the Colombian Caribbean Coast through a drumming workshop in which you will be able to interpret the sounds that are part of the culture of this region with these instruments.

At the end of this experience, you can choose from the region’s wide gastronomy and the place where you want to have lunch.

Then, you will go to the “Convento de la Popa,” situated at the highest point in Cartagena, offering the best panoramic view of this beautiful city. Continue with a visit to the Castle of San Felipe de Barajas. This castle was built by the Spanish in the 17th century and is considered the largest fortification built in a Spanish colony.

Afterwards, visit the Church of San Pedro de Claver. San Ignacio de Loyola founded this convent in the early 17th century.

Finish with an optional tour of “Las Bóvedas,” a series of 23 vaults constructed in the 18th century. These vaults are considered the final major colonial construction within the city walls, initially built for military purposes.

Day 9: Private transfer from the hotel to Rafael Núñez Airport

Our guide will meet you at the lobby of the hotel and will take you to the Rafael Nuñez Airport. We will assist you at the airport during the check-in at the airline counter to help you connect to your next destination.

PRICES All prices are in US Dollars and are subject to change without previous notice. Unless otherwise specified, prices are per person based on two people in a double occupancy room.

ITINERARY The itineraries are planned with great care. However, for operational reasons, it may be necessary to change the sequence of activities in the itinerary or the specified route, and though such cases are exceptional, in general, the itinerary should be treated only as a basic guideline.

SERVICES NOT INCLUDED

The passenger is responsible for obtaining passports, visas, travel insurance, payment of excess baggage, personal requests such as extra drinks, laundry service, communication (calls, faxes, emails, etc.), national and international airport departure taxes, gratuities, or other services and fees not specified in the itinerary.

UNUSED SERVICES

Some services may be interrupted or canceled due to climate conditions, force majeure reasons, acts of nature, strikes, etc., or others beyond the control of the hotels, airlines, other suppliers, or Metropolitan Touring or its associates. No reimbursements will be made as a result of such interruptions or cancellations that escape our control.

INSURANCE

We highly recommend that passengers get trip cancellation, travel repatriation, and international medical insurance to cover any inconveniences that may arise during the trip. We also urge them to check with their doctor to update vaccines and review medical concerns regarding international travel.

AIR TICKETS

Prices of air tickets are subject to change without previous notice until their final issuance. Flight schedules are subject to change by the airline companies up until the day of the flight. The airlines may place additional restrictions, limitations, penalties, and/or specific conditions.

Any reservation must include at least the following information about the passenger(s) or group:

FIT/GROUP SIZE DEFINITION

FIT’s conditions apply to a set of nine or fewer travelers.

GROUP conditions apply to a set of ten or more travelers.

PAYMENT CONDITIONS

Full payment is required on behalf of Metropolitan Touring Colombia:

45 days before the date of arrival for FITs.

60 days before the date of arrival for Groups.

Notes: Airfares always require Payment in Advance.

Please note that depending on the service date, some hotels and suppliers may request an advance payment to guarantee the reservation. Once we have the confirmation from the selected suppliers and hotels, we will inform you if we must receive any deposit in advance.

Notes: Our transfer fee includes transportation of one bag per person of up to 23kg (50 lbs.) plus one carry-on. If you plan to travel with additional luggage, please let us know in advance so we can assign a different vehicle capacity for the transfer. Please keep in mind that additional costs may be charged.
