Day by Day

Day 1: Welcome to Bogota!

Bogotá is Colombia’s capital city with almost 8 million people; it is a cosmopolitan center of sophistication and has become an epicenter for business, politics, and entertainment.

One of our team members will greet you upon arriving at El Dorado International Airport. Our guide will escort you to your hotel and assist you with check-in. They’ll also provide you with a detailed itinerary of all the services included in your trip, along with other useful information.

Day 2: Zipaquira's Underground Salt Cathedral & Guided Tour of Bogota!

Today’s tour starts with a panoramic drive to Zipaquirá, Colombia’s salt mining capital on the outskirts of Bogotá.  Here, you’ll visit the famous underground salt cathedral carved inside a 250 million year-old salt mine.

Afterwards, we’ll show you around the beautiful city of Bogota, it’s charming Candelaria colonial-style neighborhood and other points of interest, like the impressive Bolivar Plaza.

Day 3: The Coffee Triangle awaits!

Today, you’ll fly from the nation’s capital to another capital; the Coffee Triangle, where Colombia’s most popular export is largely cultivated.

Our team will meet you at the local airport in Pereira and take you over to your hotel.

Once you’re settled in, we’ll head out to nearby Armenia and Calarcá for a tour and tasting experience at a delightful coffee hacienda!

Day 4: Visit to Cocora Valley and Salento

On this day, we’ll head out to beautiful  Cocora Valley, home to one of the tallest palm trees in the world! We’ll go on a guided walk of the area while learning about its rich and natural ecosystem.

Following that, we’ll head to the town of Salento, which was one of the first settlements in the region and still boasts some colorful colonial architecture.

Day 5: Arrival in Cali + Guided City Tour

Today, it’s off to Cali! Our team will meet you at the airport and assist you with your accommodations and check-in. Afterwards, enjoy a tour of this bustling and beautiful city. Along the way, you’ll see Ermita Church, Caycedo Square, the Municipal Theater, Calima Gold Museum, and the colonial-style neighborhood of San Antonio.

Day 6: Sugar Cane, Pineapple, and Ancestral Trapiches

This day is dedicated to a tour of Cali’s impressive agricultural landscapes. We’ll tour a  sugar cane farm and learn about how brown sugar, or panela, is made.

Next, we’ll visit a pineapple field and taste this delicious fruit, before heading out to enjoy some lovely cacti landscapes and a bowl of traditional sancocho.

Day 7: Charming Cartagena + Tour of San Felipe Castle

You’ll say goodbye to Cali’s landscapes and hello to the Caribbean Coast, and in particular, Cartagena! A team member will greet you at the airport and take you over to your hotel.

Once you’re settled in, it’s off to San Felipe de Barajas Castle, one of the strongest forts ever built for a Spanish colony.

Next, we’ll head to Las Bovedas – a former armory-turned-marketplace lined with artisanal crafts, jewelry, and antiques.

Afterwards we’ll take a lovely walk through Cartagena’s old town.

Day 8: La Boquilla Mangroves & Traditional Dance

The tour begins with a visit to “La Boquilla”, an old fishing village located twenty minutes north of Cartagena. This community was once a slave colony, and is home to many Afro-Colombian inhabitants.

Located on a narrow peninsula, nestled between the clear waters of the Caribbean Sea and the “Ciénaga de la Virgen” – a large lake and mangrove swamp.

You’ll board a traditional canoe for a pleasant tour of the mangroves, where you’ll be able to observe the fauna and flora that inhabits this unique ecosystem.

In the latter half of the day, we’ll head over to a lively dance and drum workshop. You’ll enjoy live music and learn about the exciting rhythms and sound of Champeta, a style that is largely endemic to this region.

Day 9: Colombia bids you farewell!

Today we’ll pick you up at your hotel and bring you over to the airport so that you can catch your flight to your next destination.
