Day by Day Highlights of Colombia tour

Day 1: Arrival in Bogota, Transfer to Hotel

Upon your arrival at El Dorado International Airport in Bogota, a team member will be waiting for you just outside the baggage claim area. They will warmly welcome you and accompany you to your hotel. There, they will assist with your check-in process and provide you with a detailed itinerary outlining all the services included in your trip. 

Additionally, you’ll receive important information, including contact numbers and a 24-hour helpline that you can reach out to should you require any immediate assistance.

Day 2: City Tour and Visit to Paloquemao Market

Your morning will begin with an exhilarating visit to Paloquemao Market, one of Colombia’s largest markets known for its remarkable variety of flowers, exotic fruits, vegetables, medicinal herbs, and traditional food. This cultural experience is one to remember, offering the opportunity to sample some delicious bites! From there, we’ll proceed to La Candelaria to admire its vibrant colonial-style architecture. Then, you will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and take a leisurely walk around Plaza Bolivar, surrounded by significant buildings such as City Hall, the Congressional Palace, and Independence House. Depending on the day, we might also visit the Gold Museum or the Botero Museum!

Day 3: Flight to Medellin / City Tour

Today, you’ll be accompanied to the airport for your flight to Medellín, famously known as the “City of Eternal Spring.” Upon arrival, a team member will welcome and guide you on a captivating tour of this dynamic metropolis. They will share historical insights about how the city started investing in public education and infrastructure in the era that began shortly after the millennium, following the end of Pablo Escobar’s reign. Later, you’ll be transferred to your hotel for check-in and relaxation.

Day 4: Graffiti Experience and Tour of Comuna 13

Today, it stands as a global leader in innovation, owing to significant investments in education, infrastructure, and technology. On this day, you’ll explore the world-renowned Comuna 13, a neighborhood adorned with stunning graffiti, artisan shops, cafes, and a line-up of breakdancers and street performers. It has evolved into an exciting tourist destination. You will ride the network of escalators that navigate this extraordinary district, offering you a tangible experience of the social transformation that Medellin has undergone.

Day 5: Guatapé and Peñol Boulder

Today, you’ll venture to the village of Guatapé and the majestic Peñol Boulder, approximately 49 mi (79 km) from the center of Medellin, encircled by a hand-made lake created in the 1970s. This charming village boasts a kaleidoscope of artistic murals and vibrant cobblestone sidewalks. A popular tourist spot, the breathtaking views from the top of the Boulder justify the thrilling climb complete. 

Today’s itinerary includes lunch and all entrance fees.

Day 6: Flight to Cartagena & Guided City Tour

Today, your journey continues to Cartagena

Our transfer service will pick you up from your hotel and escort you to the airport for your flight to sunny Cartagena. Upon arrival, a team member will greet you and accompany you to your accommodation. They will assist you with the check-in process. 

Then, gear up for a private guided tour of Cartagena. You’ll visit landmarks like the Convento de la Popa, a 17th-century wooden chapel that is the city’s highest point. 

Later, you’ll explore the Castillo de San Felipe, an imposing fortress known for its intricate tunnel system. Your tour concludes with a stroll through Las Bóvedas, an 18th-century military battery turned tourist attraction, lined with stalls selling art, jewelry, clothing, and souvenirs.

  • Please note that appropriate attire for both men and women is required when visiting religious buildings.

Day 7: La Boquilla Mangroves & Caribbean Rhythms Drum Experience

La Boquilla, an ancient fishing village located just 20 minutes north of Cartagena, is home to residents who are descendants of what was previously an Afro-Colombian slave colony. 

Today, these inhabitants act as stewards of the verdant mangrove swamps, safeguarded from the Caribbean Sea by a slender peninsula. The tour invites visitors to venture on a traditional wooden canoe and traverse the complex tunnels of the mangroves, offering a glimpse into the captivating wildlife and plant life.

Afterward, we will visit a drumming workshop where you will discover the unique characteristics of various Colombian and Caribbean music styles such as Cumbia, Bullerengue, Mapalé, and Champeta.

Day 8: Transfer to Airport / Farewell!

Today, we bid farewell. A team member will pick you up from your hotel and escort you to the airport, where you’ll catch your flight home or to your next destination.

Terms and Conditions

PRICES All prices are in US Dollars and are subject to change without previous notice. Prices are per person based on two people in a double occupancy room unless otherwise specified.  

ITINERARY The itineraries are planned with great care. However, for operational reasons, it may be necessary to change the sequence of activities in the itinerary or the specified route, and though such cases are exceptional, in general, the itinerary should be treated only as a basic guideline.  

SERVICES NOT INCLUDED  

The passenger is responsible for obtaining passports, visas, travel insurance, payment of excess baggage, personal requests such as extra drinks, laundry service, communication (calls, faxes, emails, etc.), national and international airport departure taxes, gratuities, or other services and fees not specified in the itinerary.  

UNUSED SERVICES  

Some services may be interrupted or canceled due to climate conditions, force majeure reasons, acts of nature, strikes, etc., or others beyond the control of the hotels, airlines, other suppliers, or Metropolitan Touring or its associates. No reimbursements will be made as a result of such interruptions or cancellations that escape our control.  

INSURANCE  

We highly recommend that passengers get trip cancellation, travel repatriation, and international medical insurance to cover any inconveniences that may arise during the trip. We also urge them to check with their doctor to update vaccines and review medical concerns regarding international travel.  

AIR TICKETS  

Prices of air tickets are subject to change without previous notice until their final issuance. Flight schedules are subject to change by the airline companies up until the day of the flight. Additional restrictions, limitations, penalties, and/or specific conditions may be placed by the airlines.  

BOOKING CONDITIONS  

Any reservation must include at least the following information about the passenger(s) or group:  

a. Complete names and surnames  

b. Nationalities  

c. Passport numbers  

d. Dates of Birth  

e. Gender  

f. Dietary restrictions, if any  

FIT/GROUP SIZE DEFINITION  

FIT’s conditions apply to a set of nine or fewer travelers.  

GROUP conditions apply to a set of ten or more travelers.  

PAYMENT CONDITIONS  

Full payment is required on behalf of Metropolitan Touring Colombia:  

– 45 days before the date of arrival for FITs.  

– 60 days before the date of arrival for Groups.  

Notes: Airfares always require Payment in Advance. 

Please note that depending on the service date, some hotels and suppliers may request an advance payment to guarantee the reservation. Once we have the formal confirmation from the selected suppliers and hotels, we will proceed to inform you if we must receive any deposit in advance. 

Payment constitutes the acceptance of the terms and conditions set out herein.
