Day 1: Arrive in Quito / Transfer to Hotel

Quito's Old Town at night

Welcome to Quito, Ecuador! At the airport, you will be greeted by a member of our team who will assist you with your luggage and transfer to Casa Gangotena Boutique Hotel. During the ride, you will receive a brief introduction of Quito and Ecuador along with valuable information regarding your stay in the country.

Day 2: Experiential Tour of Quito / Dinner

San Juan Viewpoint with a view of Quito

On this day you’ll visit the Historic Center of Quito – a wonderful area of Ecuador’s capital city that was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site back in 1978. During the tour, you’ll walk through the Independence Square, which is flanked by the Cathedral of Quito, the Presidential Palace, the Municipal Building and the Archbishop’s Palace. After that, we’ll visit the Basilica of the National Vow, where we’ll get to head up its impressive towers and explore the depths of its mysterious crypts, allowing you to unravel all the details that exist in its architecture! The next stop of the tour will be San Juan, where you’ll learn about the preparation of traditional quesadilla snacks. Following that, we’ll visit “Quito’s balcony” – a fantastic viewpoint that overlooks the impressive and magical city of Quito.

For lunch, we’ll head to the Plaza Grande Hotel, where you’ll get to enjoy a delicious meal.

At the end of the tour, you’ll be taken back to Casa Gangotena Boutique Hotel to rest up for the next day, but not before enjoying dinner at ac high-class restaurant* in Quito!

*The exact restaurant will be confirmed upon booking.

Day 3: Arrive to Galapagos / Transfer to Boat / Baltra Island / Mosquera Islet

Sea Lion at Mosquera Islet

On this morning, you’ll take a transfer to Quito’s airport and fly to the Galapagos to begin your 7-day Eastern Galapagos Islands itinerary:

Baltra Island

You will land in Baltra Island by plane in the morning and then transfer to the dock to board the Santa Cruz II. After an introductory briefing onboard, we will all partake in an emergency boat drill, be assigned to your cabin and then be invited to lunch.

Mosquera Islet

After lunch, the Santa Cruz II will sail to Mosquera Island – a small piece of volcanic uplift that sits between the larger islands of Baltra and North Seymour. An easy, enjoyable walk along the coastline allows visitors to admire the young sea lions and give snorkeling a go, too!

Day 4: San Cristobal Island

Tour of Punta Pitt in the Galapagos Islands

Puerto Baquerizo Moreno

After breakfast, we will disembark (dry landing) at Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, the archipelago’s capital, where we’ll get to visit Cerro Colorado and the Breeding Center for highly endangered giant tortoises that amble around under the cover of a fantastic deciduous forest. This forest also happens to be home to dozens of bird species and the San Cristobal lava lizard – both of which happen to be endemic species on this island!

Punta Pitt

In the morning, the group heads over to the eastern tip of San Cristobal Island. The trail that ascends from the beach provides spectacular views of the shoreline, allowing guests to observe frigatebirds and a colony of bachelor sea lions. After the walk, weather permitting, you will have the chance to swim along the beach and snorkel.

Day 5: Santa Fe Island / South Plaza Island

Santa Fe's Land Iguana

Santa Fe Island

We take a dinghy from the Santa Cruz II over to this idyllic white-sand beach that’s populated with colonies of sea lions. The brilliantly yellow Santa Fe land iguana, which, in the entire world, is exclusive to just this island, might also be spotted during the walk. Later, you’ll have your choice of swimming or snorkeling along a natural wave barrier.

South Plaza Island

Here, the turquoise waters of the channel contrast brilliantly with the white sand beach and volcanic rocks that make up the shoreline. Along the coastline, you’ll spot sea lion colonies and seabirds frolicking along the cliffs of this small but spectacular island.

Day 6: Santa Cruz Island

Giant Tortoises in the Highlands of Santa Cruz in the Galapagos

Puerto Ayora & the Charles Darwin Research Station

In the morning, we disembark in Puerto Ayora and visit the Charles Darwin Research Station to check out the breeding program for giant tortoises. Afterward, a bus takes the group up and over Santa Cruz Island to visit the highlands.

Highlands

You will have several options to choose from in the afternoon, these of which can be discussed in advance with your Expedition Leader. At the end of the afternoon’s activities, guests will return to Puerto Ayora and hop aboard the Santa Cruz II.

Day 7: Española Island

Snorkeling at Gardner Bay

Punta Suarez

The morning outing at Punta Suarez gifts us a spirited trek across lava terrain to visit the unique seabird colonies that populate this area. Waved albatrosses (visible from April until January), and the famous “blowhole” geological formation await! Afterward, we return to the Santa Cruz II for lunch.

Gardner Bay

In the afternoon, we disembark at this beautiful, white coral beach for a short walk to observe the sea lions, mockingbirds and finches. Guests can choose to simply enjoy the beach or explore the astonishing sites via snorkeling.

Day 8: Santa Cruz Island / North Seymour Island

A tour of North Seymour in the Galapagos

Eden Islet (Santa Cruz Island)

After breakfast, a panga ride takes us over to Eden Islet – a small islet located off the coast of Santa Cruz Island. It is here that you will have the chance to observe blue-footed boobies diving into the water, reef sharks swimming around and frigatebirds flapping about. There’s a chance to snorkel and, weather permitting, take a ride aboard the glass-bottom boat or do some kayaking.

North Seymour Island

North Seymour is the result of oceanic uplift that resulted from a volcanic event long ago. Its origins as a seabed give the island its low, flat profile. Enjoy a walk along the coast and inner area of this beautiful and relatively flat island. Throughout the excursion, you will get to observe numerous bird colonies as well as sea lions and land iguanas.

Day 9: Transfer to Airport / Arrive in Quito / Transfer to Hotel / Dinner

Quito's Historic Quarter

Baltra Island

On this day, you’ll enjoy breakfast and hop on your transfer to the airport, from which point you’ll take your flight back to Quito.

Quito

Once you arrive in Quito, you’ll take your transfer to Casa Gangotena Boutique Hotel, but not before having another special dinner at a high-end restaurant* in Quito!

Overnight in Casa Gangotena.

*The exact restaurant will be confirmed upon booking.

Day 10: Transfer to Airport / Farewell!

At the designated time, you will be picked up from your hotel to take your transfer to the airport. Safe travels!

Testimonial

The vessel is very luxurious to compare with all the other vessels in the Galapagos.

We had an amazing experience in the Galapagos Island aboard the First Class, newly renovated MV Santa Cruz II. The vessel is very luxurious when compared to all the other vessels in the Galapagos. It has 3 decks and 50 cabins. The cabins have a large glass window with a fantastic view of the water. The beds are very comfortable, the bathrooms are good sizes and quite modern. It is quite new and very clean. The service was excellent. All the staff was so attentive and was very helpful. The food was out of this world from Ecuadorian to International cuisine. It was prepared and supervised by a Cordon Bleu Chef. The naturalist guides are very friendly and knowledgeable.
