Visiting Ecuador can be one of the best experiences you’ll ever have as a traveler. Yes, in this current travel climate, there can be a little uncertainty when it comes to coordinating details for your return trip. The important thing is not to feel overwhelmed and not give up on your dream of visiting one of the most biodiverse countries in the world!

Perhaps you fear getting stuck in a foreign country, not knowing where to get the necessary test to return home to the United States. In this blog, we’ll explain the current requirement for return travel to the U.S. and your testing options to help you feel confident and at ease in your decision to travel and your ability to return home safely.

During your expeditions, you’ll mostly visit uninhabited islands in the Galapagos National Park. Here, you’ll be greeted by unique and endemic species that roam freely.

What are the current requirements for return travel to the United States?

The GOOD NEWS: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regularly update their guidelines for all airline passengers entering the United States. As of their most recent post, U.S. Citizens, Nationals, and Lawful Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders) returning to the U.S. by air are no longer required to present a negative COVID-19 viral test result to enter the U.S.

That said, all non-U.S. citizens and nonimmigrant passengers are required to present proof that they are fully vaccinated (excluding boosters) against COVID-19. Without this proof, these passengers will not be allowed to board their flight. The list of accepted vaccines can be found here.

Keep in mind that with a busy itinerary and so much to see and do while visiting Ecuador, it can be cumbersome to have to arrive at the airport several hours prior to your flight, to take care of any testing you need, should this requirement be implemented once more in the future.

If you book your trip with us, we’ll make sure you enjoy your vacation from beginning to end!

Also, we understand that unforeseen issues can arise at any moment, not just during your travels, but before they even begin, which is why we should talk about some contingencies and some common-sense ideas like obtaining travel insurance to help you if any issues arrive.

What happens if an eventuality disrupts my travel plans?

When making your reservation, it is always a good idea to check with your travel agent about the company’s peace-of-mind policies, should you need to reschedule your trip due to a force majeure reason. The first step is to get in touch with your travel agent so they may assist you in modifying your travel plans.

If you’re planning on booking with us, you have nothing to worry about. We have excellent Peace of Mind Policies, and we’ll help you find an option that suits your case.

Rebooking Your Trip

Travel to an incredible destination like Ecuador can be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for many people. Should you find you need to postpone your trip, Metrojourneys is committed to working with you to reschedule your hard-earned vacation. We have flexible payment policies, which are designed to facilitate this. Here are some of them:

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is an invaluable purchase for any trip, it is highly recommended for all travelers to Ecuador. Some policies offer coverage in case you need to cancel your travel plans for any reason. Obtaining one of these policies is a sure bet for ensuring peace of mind throughout your entire trip, even before it begins.

Types of Coverage and How to Purchase

Understanding the different types of coverage can be very helpful when shopping for a plan. The good news here is that no matter the plan you choose, given that your travel plans may be relatively short, your costs will likely be quite affordable. You’ll need to locate a provider and check with them directly. Another thing to consider is the 24-hour support that your coverage will provide you.

Once you select a plan, you’ll just need to pay for the coverage ahead of time. Often this can be done via a simple credit or debit card transaction.

Medical Expense Coverage

General coverage like that offered by many credit card companies can take care of reimbursements for incidental costs associated with transportation cancellations and delays, loss of luggage, and loss of property. What a specific travel insurance plan can also offer you is reimbursement for medical expenses or direct coverage (payment) with participating providers. This can be incredibly helpful. Again, you’ll need to do some research as to which is the right company for you. You can also ask your destination expert for recommendations.

Medical Emergency Assistance (Including Treatment Services)

Should you need treatment services and assistance due to any medical emergency, this coverage will help cover those costs. In some instances, your provider may even be able to locate or recommend a local health professional or clinic. The peace of mind you’ll enjoy from this type of assistance is invaluable.

Trip Interruptions

Finally, travel insurance is a great way to guard against any loss due to travel interruptions. Perhaps a canceled flight, means waiting another day or two to fly home? Insurance coverage can help cover your hotel expenses, for example. It always helps to document the details of any unforeseen issues, including receipts with clear dates and descriptions, so that you can present these to your provider as part of your claim.

In the end, you’ll thank yourself for having acquired a good travel insurance plan, because the flipside is not something you’ll want to experience!

You’re in good hands.
